Shares represent ownership

A share is an ownership interest in a company. CMA Rwanda’s capital-market FAQ distinguishes shares from lending through bonds. The Rwanda Stock Exchange is a securities marketplace; it is different from a company whose shares are listed there, and from a broker acting on an investor’s instructions.

Income is different from price movement

A dividend is a distribution a company may make to shareholders. Not every company pays dividends, and payments can change or stop. Separately, a share’s market value can rise or fall. Neither dividends nor capital gains should be assumed or guaranteed. Investor.gov’s stocks introduction covers the general ownership and income concepts.

Check the company’s announcement

For a particular dividend, consult the issuer’s official announcement for its amount, eligibility dates and payment arrangements. This guide does not provide a current dividend calendar, dealing rules, fees or tax treatment.

Keep purchases, sales, charges and confirmed dividends distinguishable in your records. Struct Capital provides equity portfolio tracking; it is independent software, not the RSE or a broker, and it does not place trades.
